YOUR NAME IS "SKYE"?

Yep, that's me! I'm Skye. Like up in the sky.

IS THAT SHORT FOR SOMETHING? OR A NICKNAME?

That's my real name. Just "Skye." It's not short for Skyler or anything. Nickname? No, but I'm often called "Spiller," "Drinkspiller," "Spills McKenzie," "Hey, are you going to replace that drink?"...you get the idea.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I like to explore connections between creativity, technology, and behavior. Having studied both graphic design and computer science, I started my career as a designer/developer. Over time, I increasingly worked on conceptual and strategic development for projects and campaigns while collaborating closely with others who would execute.

Currently, I'm a UX Engineer at Google where I craft and implement the user experience on various projects for ad-related products. Previously, I lead and managed the creative process for digital work at Cannonball Advertising in St. Louis. My primary job was to find inventive ways to bring brand and business objectives to life in digital and to ensure the work’s quality and delivery. I worked closely with the rest of the creative team to develop and present our strategic and creative approach for digital. I worked with our developers to shepherd projects through the development cycle. And I worked with our account team to scope, budget, and plan resources for projects.

I'm an optimist who sees possibility when others see obstacles. I believe that “the one who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the one who is doing it.” Together, we can turn “that’ll never work” into “look what they pulled off!”

PICK SOME CLICHÉS THAT APPLY.

I like getting the ball rolling. People say I wear a lot of hats. That I have my hands in a lot of pots. Nothing gets me going like some blue-sky brainstorming. I want everyone to give their two cents, but at the end of the day I’m the kind of guy who is willing to put a stake in the ground. I can see the forest and the trees. I’m the perfect storm.
